I Believe – It is fun discovering the world around me, just like Sara, Carlo, and Teddy, the curious horses, Book 9 is a children’s animal coloring and activity book written by Suzanne Mondoux and illustrated by Gaetanne Mondoux. It was springtime, and the inhabitants of the ranch were excited and wondering where they would be going for their summer expedition. Sara, the golden mare, who had lived in the desert before coming to stay at the ranch, would be making the plans for that extended outing. She worked with Teddy and Carlo, who also loved exploring new places, to craft the perfect vacation. When Sara opened up a map for all to see and showed them the area marked in red, some faces displayed pleasure while others were filled with confusion. The map showed the ranch, and the areas around it. How could this be an adventure? But the three explorer horses knew the answer to that.
While far-away adventures always seem to pique the curiosity of even the most jaded, there’s a wealth of things to discover that are often right outside your door. In this ninth book of her I Believe series, Suzanne Mondoux initiates kids into the natural sciences, and she teaches how they can learn to see their everyday world through different eyes. Using the story as an impetus and example, Mondoux challenges kids to spend 60 days discovering the insects, exotic plants, rocks and secret places that are within their reach every day. Her instructions on how to build a plant press to preserve plant and flower specimens show kids how getting started as a collector and amateur naturalist can be inexpensive and surprisingly easy.
