I Believe – It is ok to be kind and good to one another and to animals, just like Baxter the magnificent dog, Book 6, is a children’s animal coloring and activity book written by Suzanne Mondoux and illustrated by Gaetanne Mondoux. Dog parks can be some of the happiest places on earth, especially in the winter time when there’s plenty of snow to play and frolic in. Baxter, the pointer mix, loves playing with other dogs and people but he’s very uncomfortable around smaller dogs. In this I Believe story, with the help of horses, Carlo and Teddy, and their friend, Lulu and her puppies, Baxter remembers why he feels uneasy with little dogs, and he learns how to fix the situation.
Sometimes we do things that make others unhappy or even cry. We may not do it deliberately, and, as in Baxter’s case, it may be by accident, but it still is important to make the other party realize that you’re sorry it happened. Baxter’s story is a fairly common one in most dog parks as play can get pretty crazy when you have a bunch of happy dogs and people frolicking around. Baxter’s story gives young readers a chance to consider when they’ve done things that upset others — even if it wasn’t on purpose. Best of all, the story shows kids how to fix the situation and repair the other’s hurt feelings.
Suzanne Mondoux’s thirty-day challenge for kids helps them to make being mindful of others’ feelings an automatic and instinctual thing. Gaetanne Mondoux’s illustrations highlight the very best parts of wintertime. Each page features a winter wonderland filled with snow-laden trees, snowmen and intricate snowflakes. I Believe – It is ok to be kind and good to one another and to animals, just like Baxter the magnificent dog, Book 6 entertains as it enlightens. It’s most highly recommended.
