Broken Flower

Suzanne Mondoux · 20 July 2020

When they speak of love I wilt I look for the hint of ray Is there anything to reach for I seek just a drop of rain

I’m a broken flower in the dust No air to breath No life to give I’ve withered away

I’ve shrivelled in your wake My spirit weak when they speak of love I act as though there’s life to live It faded so brilliantly when I laid the flowers on your grave

The flag of broken flowers dangles from my heart Lost in the storm of pain No spirit left to lose Broken flowers dead at my feet

In your last breath, my soul escaped I search for life amongst the tombs Where fresh roses bloomed I’ve seen this place, so restful they say End of something for a broken flower

A broken flower last resting place In my soul, solemn you grow Broken flower there’s no fixing what made you so When they speak of love I wilt Broken flowers I lay my head
